No, not really. 'Cause that would be kinda awesome, ya know?

Anyway, on her official site, Stephenie Meyer has playlists for each of her books. Yes, folks, that's right. She really IS what happens when you give a bad fanfic author a publishing deal. You get an epic Mary Sue with terrible gender politics and her playlists filled with the most mainstream alternative rock out there.

Not totally knocking her taste in music. I myself enjoy Linkin Park and My Chemical Romance, both of whom she abuses on her playlists. But what I find hysterical is that she'd include My Chem on there. Because it means she obviously knows fuck all about the band.

First of all, it is a band full of fucking FEMINISTS. Gerard Way has spoken out openly about the objectification of women and his distaste with it, Ray Toro has a fantastic quote about how most guys would only be interested in a girl's brains if they bounced on her chest when she ran. Gerard is married to an outspoken, artistic girl who would never put up with the sort of shit Bella takes from Edward.

But more than that...remember how Smeyer mentioned that she doesn't know shit about vampire mythology? And that she gets upset when vampires are portrayed differently from hers?

Yeah, obviously we use vampires as a metaphor for something else, something deeper than just the supernatural. But there's just something about the bloodsucking walking dead, that can say so much to people. There are really so many people trying to get control over you on a daily basis and steal your soul in some way, take a part of you...

Smeyer, face it. Vampires were the best metaphor for abusive relationships you could have used.

	One of the reasons I love them is because they're so openly pro-female. When Gerard and Gabriel Ba were working on the character designs for The Umbrella Academy, Gerard made them take a character back to the drawing board because HER PROPORTIONS DIDN'T LOOK REALISTIC. Just wandered over here from Random's Journal and had to say that's a wonderful combination of factors, her listening to a band with that vampire quote. In fact, it might explain why she picked vampires, despite her creations no longer really resembling vampires (while there are many varied vampire myths around the world being at least nocturnal and more often harmed by sunlight in a variety of ways is pretty close to universal, glittering in it not so much).
Though, to be fair to the crazy twilight authoress, I usually know absolutely zero about bands I listen to outside of their music because I find it irrelevant to the quality of their art.
My Chemical Romance being a slight exception in that I did like Umbrella Academy quite a bit.
