Call to arms
About an hour ago I was ready to kill myself. I was ready to do so out of my own perceived weakness, out of my fear that I am nothing more than a husk worthy only of those sorts of men that want to project on me whatever they want. Something that is so broken all men want to do is fix her, but by rebuilding her into whatever they want.

And then I decided not to do that. Because either it wasn't worth it or I'd just blown $60 on tickets to Warped Tour. Either way. So I got online. And I came across this:

Edward does love Bella more than anything in the world and if he didnt he would have killed her by now as for the whole friends thing he eventually gives in there in fact and cant keep her from anything bc he hates to see her in pain or angry. sure Edward is overprotective but that is hardly controlling. People dont love Edward for his look (though that is a plus) they love him because he cares so much for Bella. And to be honest the real problem lies with Bella. She keeps running to Jacob which hurts Edward and the whole cullen family and in turn hurts Jacob too by giving him hope than crushing him time after time. In the end Bella has hurt everyone around her including herself and this could have all been prevented by honoring Edwards wishes.

I am sick and tired of watching Stephenie Meyer's continued contributions to the dumbing down and tranquilizing of young women. I am sick and tired of her thinly veiled Mormon propaganda pushing young women to hate and fear themselves, their sexuality and the thought of leaving the house without their knight in "dazzling" armor.

I don't know when it went out of style to be the strong girl, to be the one who decided for themselves, who didn't have to "honor his wishes" in all things because it might upset him. If not honoring his wishes causes him to go into fits, then he's not a handsome prince, he's a violent sociopath and you need to get away from him.

Every time I see a girl profess how amazing Edward's love for Bella is or how perfect they are together, except for the fact that "she's so dumb!" I want to scream, then I want to cry. Because what are these girls learning? They are at fault for everything that goes wrong in a relationship because they were dumb, or they were headstrong, or they wanted something that the boy wouldn't give. They're being force-fed pure misogyny and not only is the world accepting it, they're eating it up. They're casting movies and letting the author show her crazed face all over talking about how wonderful it is to see her dream become a reality.

And what dream would that be, Stephenie? Would it be the dream of a world where young women know their place. You talk about the dream that inspired Twilight, now let me tell you about one of my own:

I had a dream where I was being led through some kind of prison. I knew instinctively that I was some kind of rebel, that my rebellion had nearly fallen through. That the other girls I had been leading and protecting had been captured and given into torture, siding with the enemy.

And then, I watched as my captors, also women, destroyed my military fatigues and told me that as a good girl I wouldn't need them anymore.

Stephenie Meyer, your dream world is my fucking nightmare.
